Influence takes you on a journey through the history of advertising, from the birth of the industry after World War II, up until the present day. This debut series is a brief retrospective look at the events which have shaped today’s industry. 

We welcome guests who play and have played prominent roles in and around the advertising and media industries to share their perspectives on historical events, cultural trends and shifts in consumer behavior and the ways in which they have shaped today’s advertising industry. 

Why are we doing this?

For the last 10 years, WeTransfer has been a pioneer in digital advertising. WeTransfer hosts beautiful, full-screen advertisements, called ‘wallpapers’, each one has an uncompromising focus on design and user experience. We’ve always taken a noninvasive approach to advertising, so our users don’t feel they’re simply being sold to. This approach to advertising has been incredibly effective and well-loved and very importantly our ad performance has far outpaced IAB standards.

A closing note

As a business, we’ve typically been reserved with regards to discussing advertising and bashful about our success. But all of that is about to change. 

We hope that this series will evolve to encompass many of the people that have helped to shape the advertising industry, as well as those that will be responsible for shaping the future. Your thoughts and suggestions are important to the success of the series, as are your reviews!
